Why We Share: The Power of a Simple Pick-Me-Up in Cottonwood

Between prepping fall beds, sweating through this July heat, and keeping up with the daily rush of running a flower farm, it is easy to get caught up in the logistics of the harvest. But lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about why I planted these seeds in the first place.

It wasn't just to sell flowers. It was to bring the beauty of the field into the spaces where people live, celebrate, and sometimes, heal.

That's why, every single week behind the scenes, a portion of the field’s best stems don't go to retail. They get quietly bundled up and donated to local non-profits, families, or individuals in our community who really need a reason to smile.

Flowers Aren’t a Luxury—They’re a Connection

Just this week, a batch of fresh, vibrant bundles went out to our incredible county animal shelter volunteers—the people who spend their tireless days giving love and care to animals who need it most.

Some people look at flowers as a luxury reserved only for big events. But I’ve watched a simple bunch of fresh-cut zinnias completely shift the energy in a room. Flowers are a tangible reminder that someone is thinking of you, that you are seen, and that you matter.

Help Me Share the Abundance of the Fields This Month

This month, since we're taking a temporary break from the Cottonwood Certified Farmers Market to stay out of the sun as much as we can and prep the beds for autumn, I wanted to open this tradition up to all of you. For July, I am giving away four custom bouquets (one per week), and I want our community to decide where they go.

Whether it is a local organization quietly doing the hard work, a neighbor navigating a tough season, or a friend who always shows up for everyone else—I want to know their story.

Community isn't just a place we live; it's something we actively build by looking out for one another. Thank you for letting Skywyld Farm be a small part of Cottonwood's story.
